Two decades of daily reporting on Google is now the industry's only real archive.

For a very large slice of the industry, the first browser tab of the morning is Search Engine Roundtable. Barry Schwartz has published there — nearly every working day — for over two decades. Alongside that he runs RustyBrick, a New York custom web and mobile development shop.

The cumulative record

Individual Roundtable posts are usually small — a ranking flux report, a forum thread, a screenshot of a new SERP feature. What makes the site important is that the archive is continuous. Twenty years of timestamped entries, cross-referenced with Google statements and community observation, is now the only accessible public record of how the search engine actually evolved. When practitioners argue about when a behaviour first appeared, the Roundtable archive is the tiebreaker.

RustyBrick

The development studio ships custom web apps, e-commerce systems, native mobile apps and a well-known suite of Jewish religious-practice applications. Running a delivery business alongside the journalism keeps his commentary grounded in what real teams can actually build.
