The book that survived several algorithm eras
The Art of SEO (co-authored with Eric Enge and Jessie Stricchiola) is now in its fourth edition and runs close to a thousand pages. It has outlasted the tactics inside it because it was written around principles — how crawling, indexing, ranking and query behaviour actually work — rather than around whatever was working that year.
He also authored Google Power Search, a compact reference on advanced search operators, and co-wrote Social eCommerce.
Netconcepts and the enterprise years
Netconcepts arrived early to a specific idea: that SEO was an engineering discipline rather than a copywriting add-on. The agency's work on faceted navigation, large-scale internal linking and crawl budget management shaped the enterprise playbook that mainstream teams still run today.
Published engagements from that era include Zappos, Sony and Chanel — retail scale, deep catalogue and brand-protection search in one client roster.
